ABOUT OUR FIRM

Todd retired from the full-time practice of law in 2019.

At the time of his retirement, he was Senior Counsel with the firm of Slepian and Schwartz near his home in the Peachtree City area, widely recognized as one of the top law firms in the region. He handled civil litigation for the firm, including family law cases.

Todd has extensive litigation and negotiation experience. He has also been the principal of his own bankruptcy law firm and holds a bachelor’s degree in finance in addition to his law degree, so he has the background and experience to help guide his clients through the widely varied economic challenges of their cases.

It was during his tenure with the Slepian firm that he accepted divorce cases for the first time and saw that they were fundamentally different from other civil litigation cases. He began to develop and refine his “Four Secrets” to help clients avoid an unnecessary contested divorce.

Todd started this part-time solo practice from his home office back in 2021 to offer clients the option of exploring an early divorce agreement, a strategy not commonly available from other family law attorneys in Georgia. We do not accept any contested cases.

We accept only a few clients at a time so they can receive the attention they deserve. Clients are given access to Todd’s private cell phone number. He often texts, chats or Zooms with them outside of regular business hours, except on game days during college football season.

Todd is member of the Clubs of Peachtree City and Newnan and often meets with clients at one of the five clubs in the area most convenient to the client.

ABOUT OUR ATTORNEY

Todd’s legal career spans over forty years and about five thousand cases.

Todd is a former Chief Assistant District Attorney. He has successfully conducted more than one hundred felony jury trials in Superior Court as lead counsel. He also directed the prosecutions against more than a dozen different death-penalty murder defendants, all of whom were convicted. See, e.g., Sealey v. State, 277 Ga. 617, 593 S. E. 2d 335 (2004).

He has successfully handled more than seventy-five appeals, almost exclusively as lead counsel for the appellee. They include the presentation of a number of oral arguments before the Supreme Court of Georgia, and one before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

One of his cases was featured in the television series Surviving Evil episode of “Money, Madness and Murder,” a case for which he was also honored with the 2002 Victim’s Service Award as Outstanding Prosecutor by the Crime Victims’ Advocacy Council.

Todd has been honored to participate as a speaker and/or moderator in more than a dozen different seminars and programs approved for continuing legal education credits by the State Bar of Georgia, including a presentation to the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers while he was a prosecutor.

He has also been honored to sit as a presiding judge or an attorney evaluator for a number of prestigious mock trial competitions, including the University of Georgia School of Law’s intramural tournaments, Georgia Tech’s Annual Ramblin’ Wreck Invitationals, and the National High School Mock Trial Championship.

Every few years, the Supreme Court of Georgia holds a special session at one of the accredited law schools in the state and invites distinguished alumni from the host school to participate. Todd was honored to present an oral argument for one of his capital murder prosecutions at such a session held by the Supreme Court at his alma mater, the University of Georgia School of Law.

Todd has lived in the Atlanta metropolitan area for most of his life. He attended Ridgeview High School in Sandy Springs, where he was the quarterback and captain of the football team.

He earned his undergraduate and professional degrees at respected institutions here in Georgia, and has practiced law on Atlanta’s suburban southside for most of his career.

He is married to former Broadway actress Kay McClelland, who is also from Sandy Springs. The couple and their two children moved to the Peachtree City area over twenty years ago and they have enjoyed the unique golf cart culture of the “PTC Bubble” ever since.

In retirement, Todd enjoys time with his family and friends, still works out regularly, plays golf a couple times a week, and follows football and other sports. His wife claims he has not yet embraced working in the yard or fixing things around the house.
